NJ Commerce Secretary Virginia S. Bauer (left) and James Waldron, NJ Commerce & Economic Growth Commission Account Executive tour the Marina Energy Thermal plant in Atlantic City. They are joined by Marina Energy Vice President Al Ruggiero (rear) as Steve Poniatowicz, Marina Energy Assistant Vice President, explains the computer system used to manage the state-of-the art energy plant. The Marina Energy Thermal plant provides heating, chilling and electricity to the Borgata Resort Hotel Casino & Spa. NJ Economic Development Authority funding was creatively applied to the thermal energy plant and another Marina Energy project at the Atlantic County Utilities Authority where a methane-to-electric power generation system was installed to produce green power using landfill methane gas. Both projects have reaped economic and environmental benefits for the region. The Marina Energy Thermal plant was recently honored by the Professional Engineering Society of Southern New Jersey for outstanding engineering and design. (Photo: William Bodine)
