Marina Thermal Facility

The Marina Thermal Facility is a Greenfield Development Project. Marina Energy, a wholly owned subsidiary of South Jersey Industries, (NYSE:SJI) as owner, and DCO Energy as the Developer and Operator are developing and financing the project as an off-site Central Utility Plant. The plant will serve the expanding Casino Industry in Atlantic City, NJ. This energy project emphasizes the long-term vision of creating, in phases, a district heating and cooling system that will service the Renaissance Pointe area of Atlantic City.

The Marina Thermal Facility is located adjacent to the site of the most aggressive new development in the region. Chilled water, hot water, and emergency power generated by the plant are delivered to casino customers for cooling, heating, domestic hot water, and back-up power requirements.

The plant is designed to have an ultimate capacity of 25,000 tons of cooling, 300,000 million BTU/hr of high temperature hot water production, and 8 MW of emergency power generation. It could be capable of serving additional casinos beyond The Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, which was opened in Summer 2003.

The cost of designing and constructing the Marina Thermal Facility, including the underground distribution system, is approximately $54 Million.
