South Jersey Gas Calls on Customers to Practice Energy Efficiency

FOLSOM, N.J. – Turn down your thermostat and wash your clothes in cold water. Those are just two recommendations from South Jersey Gas as part of the company’s Conservation Incentive Program. The program is designed to educate customers on the value of using natural gas more efficiently as a way to help lower monthly heating bills.

Consumers will be receiving a customized letter detailing their potential annual savings if they choose to implement energy efficiency measures while reducing their gas consumption. For example, by lowering your thermostat to 68 degrees when you’re at home and 60 degrees while out and while asleep can result in up to a 12 percent cost savings.

Customers will receive other money savings tips and have the option of joining SJG’s special Energy Savings Club, which will provide facts and special tips about energy efficiency.

“We want all our customers to take steps to reduce their natural gas consumption so they can manage their monthly bills while helping to improve the environment.” said Edward J. Graham, SJG’s president and CEO.

Additional programs soon to be unveiled by SJG include furnace upgrade efficiency packages, financing options and an outreach program to speak to local and state institutional constituents.
