Service Plus announces its participation in New Jersey’s
Home Performance with ENERGY STAR Program. SJESP is one of
the first contractors in New Jersey to become certified by
the Building Performance Institute to perform energy efficiency
audits, which include recommendations and improvements that
will save consumers money, improve home comfort and reduce
energy needs.
Sponsored by the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities and
New Jersey’s Clean Energy Program, Home Performance with
ENERGY STAR offers consumers access to trained, certified home
improvement contractors who, for a fee, perform energy efficiency
audits.
Using a whole house approach, SJESP’s specially trained
and accredited technicians assess a home’s energy efficiency
from top to bottom to identify sources of wasted energy. The
homeowner receives a comprehensive report of the findings,
along with recommendations to improve the home’s energy
efficiency. Homeowners who implement the recommendations are
eligible for special low-interest financing of 5.99% or 10%
cash-back through the Clean Energy Program. Rebates and tax
credits may also be available when installing ENERGY STAR high
efficiency equipment.
Through the combined efforts of South Jersey Energy Service
Plus and Home Performance with ENERGY STAR audits, customers
have a distinct advantage in determining whether they are best
served by replacing their heating and cooling equipment, replacing
the windows or upgrading the insulation to optimize the benefits
of their investment through the potential savings available.

audits address safety issues as well, said Ted Pettinelli,
energy manager of SJESP; “We perform checks for carbon
monoxide levels, moisture issues, and other
building problems that could cause unsafe conditions,” Pettinelli
