Folsom,
NJ - South
Jersey Gas presented the New Jersey School Buildings &
Grounds Association (NJSBGA) with a $500 donation to its 2007
scholarship program today at their monthly meeting in Absecon.
Each year, NJSBGA distributes scholarship monies to high school
seniors who have been accepted to an accredited college of
their choice.
South
Jersey Gas has a long-standing relationship with NJSBGA. Over
recent years, South Jersey Gas has partnered with Atlantic
County SBGA to assist several school districts convert old,
inefficient school facilities by updating outdated heating
systems and switching domestic hot water systems from electric
to natural gas.
Egg
Harbor Township Board of Education is one school system in
which this partnership has flourished. Egg Harbor Township
High School has been converting their aging heating and domestic
hot water systems from electric to energy efficient natural
gas systems. Additionally, the district is constructing two
new schools, which will use natural gas absorption chillers
for heating and cooling the entire facility.
“Thanks
to South Jersey Gas, Egg Harbor Township School District has
converted to high efficiency heating and cooling units, saving
the district and most importantly taxpayer’s money.
Aside from the monetary savings, Egg Harbor Township Board
of Education is thrilled to be setting an example by helping
the environment with our energy friendly initiatives,”
explained Brian Dunlevy for the Egg Harbor Township School
District.
Vince
Sodano, Representative for the National School Buildings &
Grounds Association and local Atlantic County resident concurred
with Dunlevy, “NJSBGA is proud to team with South Jersey
Gas on energy saving efforts that can assist local school
districts in saving money and provide more efficient facilities
for students to learn. We look forward to working with South
Jersey Gas in other school communities in the South Jersey
area.”
The
New Jersey School Buildings and Grounds Association has a
membership of approximately 360 Facility Management Professionals
in the state. NJSBGA encourages districts around the state
to utilize a Certified Educational Facility Manager Program,
which elevates membership status through education and training.
Additionally, NJSBGA continually strives to develop the most
cost effective and safe means to operate school facilities
in New Jersey.
