Folsom,
NJ - South Jersey Industries today reconfirmed
its commitment to helping achieve the state’s Energy
Master Plan goals, as outlined by Governor Corzine this morning.
“Maximizing the state’s energy conservation
and energy efficiency is a goal that should be shared by
every New Jersey resident,” said SJI Chairman, President
and CEO, Edward J. Graham. “Only with this type of
comprehensive commitment from residents, business, industry,
and the government can we achieve success in reducing our
energy consumption.”
Graham indicated that the plan challenges all of the state’s
energy consumers to reevaluate their energy needs and the
means by which they address these needs. Most notably, the
state has tasked itself with providing the first line response
to the goals outlined, including operating state facilities
and equipment as efficiently as possible, pursuing immediate
conservation measures, investing in cost-effective energy
efficiency projects, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions,
among other initiatives.
“Governor Corzine has presented us with the challenge
of helping to implement the state’s Energy Master Plan,
and South Jersey Industries intends to continue improving
our successful energy services business model to meet this
challenge,” Graham added.
