SJI Employees ‘Go Red for Women’ to Benefit American Heart Association

Folsom, NJ - On Feb. 17, South Jersey Industries participated in Wear Red Day, a national campaign to benefit the American Heart Association’s fight against heart disease and raise awareness of the prevalence of heart disease in women.

Employees who donated $5 to the cause were permitted to wear jeans and their favorite red accessory. Nearly 160 employees contributed, raising more than $790 for cause.

“We are proud to join the fight against such a devastating disease,” said Edward J. Graham, SJI chairman, president and chief executive officer. “Our employees recognize that heart disease does not discriminate and that supporting this cause has the potential to save the lives of countless women, including those of our wives, mothers and daughters.”

Wear Red Day is a day when Americans nationwide wear red to show their support of women’s heart disease awareness. Nationally, Wear Red Day was celebrated on Friday, Feb. 6. Due to SJI’s “casual Friday” dress code, the company opted to designate another day to increase participation.

Heart disease is the number one killer of American women and is responsible for the death of one woman each minute.
