AtlantiCare, Stockton and Bacharach Institute to partner with Energenic to explore a combined heat and power project

Mays Landing , NJ - AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey, Bacharach Institute for Rehabilitation and Energenic LLC today announced the signing of a letter of intent, to evaluate the feasibility for designing and potentially developing a combined heat and power facility in Atlantic County, N.J.

The CHP facility evaluation and design process will consider the heating, cooling and electric power needs of the entire AtlantiCare, Stockton and Bacharach Campus area and will incorporate any infrastructure improvements that will need to be addressed as part of the overall project. The introduction of CHP on the shared Campus should reduce energy costs and improve energy efficiency for the participants.

“We are proud to investigate the feasibility of cogeneration with Energenic and to do our part to reduce energy demand, encourage alternative energy solutions and position Atlantic County as a leader in energy efficiency,” said David Tilton, president and CEO of AtlantiCare.

“Through this partnership, the College is demonstrating its commitment to develop a more environmentally-conscious, sustainable campus, one that will benefit our students and surrounding community,” said Dr. Herman Saatkamp, Jr., president of the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey.

“It is a pleasure to be a part of such an exciting and innovative project that will provide long term benefits not only to Bacharach, but the region as a whole,” stated Dr. Richard J. Kathrins, president and CEO of Bacharach Institute for Rehabilitation.

“We recognize the value and impact combined heat and power facilities can have on our state’s energy portfolio,” added Frank DiCola, president and CEO of Energenic. “Through the development and implementation of this and similar projects, we can reduce the demand on the existing utility infrastructure and our consumption of traditional fuels, while working towards realizing the goals set forth in the Energy Master Plan.” The Energy Master Plan encourages the implementation of CHP wherever possible in satisfying New Jersey’s electricity needs.

Energenic LLC, a joint venture between Marina Energy and DCO Energy, specializes in designing, developing and operating custom, eco-friendly energy projects, including thermal facilities, combined heat and power facilities, district heating and cooling facilities, distributed generation facilities and landfill gas-to-electric facilities. Energenic meets the energy demands for commercial and industrial customers throughout the U.S., including hotels, casinos, colleges, hospitals, correctional facilities and other large-scale clients.
