Folsom, NJ -
South Jersey Industries’ Women’s
Leadership Initiative today presented the Atlantic County Women’s
Center with items collected as part of a company-wide accessories
drive.
The accessories will benefit ACWC’s Home to Work program,
which provides women returning to the workforce with the
personal support, education and job training necessary to
become independent and self-sufficient.
“We are proud to support the Atlantic County Women’s
Center as they work to empower women by ensuring they have
the resources to live healthy, productive lives,” said
SJI Chairman, President and CEO, Edward J. Graham. “It
is our hope that these donations will help ACWC’s clients
obtain gainful employment as they work to support their families.”
As part of the Home to Work Program, ACWC sponsors a professional
attire “career closet” where women can build
work-appropriate wardrobes. Although the career closets provides
women with the professional clothes they need to interview
and start new jobs, accessories are not always available
to complete their outfits.
“We are grateful for the donations collection by South
Jersey Industries’ Women’s Leadership Initiative,” said
Claudia Ratzlaff, ACWC executive director. “The accessories
donated by SJI’s generous employees will give our clients
renewed confidence as they interview and start new jobs.”
The SJI Women’s Leadership Initiative was founded
on the principle that the participants and SJI will benefit
from the encouragement of growth and development, on-going
mentoring and the sharing of information and expertise. The
group strives to develop a strong community where members
communicate, educate, collaborate, influence, network with
and encourage one another. The group is supported by three
key committees tasked with identifying activities that will
allow the women of SJI to create connections and support
across functional areas and throughout the organization.
The Atlantic County Women’s Center is a non-profit
Agency whose mission is to empower women by working to secure
their safety, emotional well-being, individual freedom and
economic equality.
