South Jersey Gas to Survey Cape May County Residents for Interest in Natural Gas

Folsom, NJ – With many homeowners concerned about the cost of heating their homes this winter, especially after facing frigid temperatures and multiple cold snaps, South Jersey Gas is examining the feasibility of extending natural gas service into additional areas of Cape May County, potentially providing another fuel choice for energy- and budget-conscious residents.

“Many residents in Cape May Point, Del Haven and West Cape May have expressed an interest in switching to natural gas,” Vice President of Customer and Distribution Operations Robert Fatzinger explained. “The level of homeowner interest will play a key role in determining the viability of this potential project. We will be mailing a survey to residents of these areas in the next two weeks to determine their interest in switching to natural gas and to assess the economics of extending natural gas service into these areas.”

If enough interest is generated, the utility intends to extend natural gas service throughout West Cape May, and into Del Haven and Cape May Point.

Interested homeowners should complete the survey and return it immediately. South Jersey Gas company representatives will contact interested homeowners and businesses to answer questions, provide information and accept requests for natural gas service.

Cape May County residents interested in additional information on natural gas service can contact South Jersey Gas at 1-877-458-9566.

South Jersey Gas is the principal subsidiary of South Jersey Industries (NYSE: SJI) and provides natural gas service to about 342,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers in Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland, Salem, and significant portions of Gloucester, Burlington and Camden counties in New Jersey.
