Elizabethtown Gas Files to Lower Rates for Customers

ELIZABETH, N.J. – June 1, 2020 – Elizabethtown Gas, a subsidiary of SJI (NYSE: SJI), announced today that it submitted its annual Basic Gas Supply Service (BGSS) filing – requesting a 6.3% decrease.

If approved by the BPU, the combined effect of the proposed BGSS rate change for an average residential heating customer utilizing 100 therms of gas during a winter heating month, would be a decrease of $6.69.

“Elizabethtown Gas takes the steps needed to hold its gas costs to the lowest reasonable level and our filing demonstrates our commitment to the continued prudent management of our gas supply portfolio for the benefit of our customers,” said Christie McMullen, President Elizabethtown Gas.

If approved by the BPU, the requested Elizabethtown Gas rate changes would take effect on October 1, 2020.
