FOLSOM, NJ, November 28, 2022 – In recognition of Giving Tuesday, SJI is excited to partner with its employees to donate more than $330,000 in critical support to local, regional and statewide community-based organizations.

SJI’s annual Employee Giving Campaign empowers the company’s more than 1,100 employees to enrich local communities by pledging a monetary contribution to a selection of nonprofit organizations. This year’s campaign marks the first time in the company’s history that each employee’s donation will be matched dollar-for-dollar by SJI.

“Each year our employees are generous with their time and finances, which inspires us all. SJI is thrilled to double the impact of their giving to the communities we serve by offering our first company match to the annual Employee Giving Campaign,” said Mike Renna, president and CEO, SJI.

SJI’s 2022 Employee Giving Campaign recipients include:
  • The South Jersey Chapter of the American Association of Blacks in Energy
  • The Arc of Union County
  • The Arc of Atlantic County
  • American Red Cross New Jersey Region
  • Community FoodBank of New Jersey
  • Covenant House
  • The Nature Conservancy
  • New Jersey Veteran’s Network

“The Red Cross depends on the generosity of its donors to fulfill its mission. We are extremely grateful to South Jersey Industries and their employees, because their donation ensures that we can support people when needed, whether that’s disaster relief, lifesaving blood, critical services for military families and veterans or training like CPR,” said Rosie Taravella, regional CEO, American Red Cross of NJ.

“Your donations help The Arc of Union County offer quality services and experiences. This allows our individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities the ability to live enhanced and fulfilled lives from our youngest participants through end-of-life care. Thank you again for your ongoing support!” said Frank Carragher, executive director of The Arc of Union County.

"Working with SJI has been a true blessing in our work in the Veteran Community. Together we have been able to reach thousands of veterans a year and helped to save and change lives,” says Doc Schupp, director of Veterans Outreach at New Jersey Veterans Network.

“The South Jersey Chapter of AABE is ecstatic about being chosen to be a recipient of the employee giving campaign for 2023. The funds will allow us to accomplish our goals within the communities that we serve as well as contribute to our members professional and personal development,” said Ken Barr, vice president of AABE South Jersey.

“The Arc of Atlantic County is grateful to employees of South Jersey Industries for their continued support of our mission. Your gift to The Arc of Atlantic County allows us to identify, maintain, develop, and expand supportive services for people living with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) in our community. Together, with your help, we can build an inclusive community; one where all people, including those with disabilities can live full, meaningful, and fulfilling lives. On behalf of the people we serve, and their families, thank you for your generous support,” said Scott Hennis, CEO, The Arc of Atlantic County.

In addition to the Employee Giving Campaign, SJI and its subsidiaries, South Jersey Gas and Elizabethtown Gas, provided more than $275,000 in meaningful aid throughout 2022 to local nonprofits and organizations that deliver critical support to those in need. These organizations included local medical and first responder agencies, youth sports and recreation programs, university foundations and economic development organizations, to name a few.
