SJI Utilities to Host Mark Cuban Foundation Artificial Intelligence Bootcamp for Local High School Students

FOLSOM, NJ, July 6, 2022 – SJI (SJI:NYSE) has long prioritized making early career opportunities accessible to students interested in science, technology, engineering and math. With that, SJI is proud to announce that its utilities, South Jersey Gas and Elizabethtown Gas, will partner with the Mark Cuban Foundation and the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs to host introductory Artificial Intelligence (AI) Bootcamps for high school students at their Atlantic City and Union-based headquarters this fall.
Founded in 2019, the Mark Cuban Foundation AI Bootcamp is a free, nationwide initiative offered to high school students interested in artificial intelligence and technology. Over the course of 4-half day sessions, students will learn what AI is and is not, where they already interact with AI in their own lives and the ethical implications of AI systems, including social media recommendations, smart home assistants, facial recognition and self-driving cars, to name a few.

The South Jersey Gas and Elizabethtown Gas AI Bootcamps will be held over four consecutive Saturdays starting on October 22, 2022, and ending on November 12, 2022. The student and parent application is now open at markcubanai.org/application until September 1, 2022. Students do not need any prior experience with computer science, programming or robotics to apply and attend.
