A.C. Chamber Names Government Affairs Lead Richard DeRose Outstanding Young Professional

FOLSOM, NJ, March 2, 2023 – SJI is pleased to announce that the Greater Atlantic City Chamber has named Richard DeRose, lead government affairs specialist for SJI, the recipient of its Outstanding Young Professional award. The chamber honored DeRose and its other award recipients at the 2023 Business Excellence Awards reception on February 23.

The Greater Atlantic City Chamber’s Business Excellence Awards program honors individuals and organizations dedicated to improving Atlantic County through tourism, volunteerism and business excellence. According to the chamber, the Outstanding Young Professional award recognizes the “next generation of business professionals who will play an important role in our region’s growth and prosperity.”

“Throughout his tenure at SJI, Richard has shown a deep-seated commitment to providing meaningful support to the communities we serve. This commitment is not only reflected in his work, but also through his active involvement in external community initiatives,” said Mike Renna, president and CEO, SJI. “I am thrilled to see him recognized and look forward to witnessing his continued impact on our state and region.”

As lead government affairs specialist for SJI, DeRose serves as a liaison to business and community organizations for the company. He also manages local and state affairs throughout the South Jersey Gas service territory. In his personal life, DeRose serves as a coach for the South Jersey Field of Dreams and Hoops for All youth sports programs. In addition, he is the junior vice commander of the Absecon American Legion. More recently, DeRose was sworn into his first term of office as a councilman in the city of Absecon.
