SJI Hosts Take Your Child to Work Day
FOLSOM, NJ-- April 26, 2019: SJI (NYSE:SJI) hosted its annual Take Your Child to Work Day across its subsidiaries, including South Jersey Gas and Elizabethtown Gas. Approximately 50 children experienced interactive sessions that exposed them to the world of Engineering, Environmental, Customer Service, Communications, Safety, Human Resources, and IT — showcasing the many facets of the businesses that ensure the delivery of safe, reliable, affordable natural gas to our customers.
The day’s activities included a focus on safety, leadership development and STEM. Participants learned about safe digging and natural gas safety, dressed up in safety gear, conducted mock utility line markouts, designed and built structures, toured the fleet and participated in simulations helping them understand the daily operations of a natural gas business.
“Take Your Child to Work Day provides a fun and family-focused opportunity for employees to share the knowledge and experience they’ve gained serving 681,000 customers across the South Jersey Gas and Elizabethtown Gas service territories, while also inspiring the next generation of utility employees,” said Dave Robbins, President SJI Utilities.
