FOLSOM, NJ, April 22, 2022 – SJI (SJI:NYSE) holds a longstanding commitment to providing time, resources and critical support to organizations and initiatives that share its vision of achieving a clean energy future. In celebration of Earth Day, SJI is excited to engage its employees, customers and communities in its sustainability efforts through a series of partnerships and upcoming initiatives.

In alignment with SJI’s continued commitment to sustainability, the company is proud to unveil its newly-formed employee resource group, the SJI Green Team. The SJI Green Team dedicates itself to serving as an interactive and educational resource to employees, empowering them to help support and create a more sustainable environment in local communities. Accordingly, the group plans to attend Stockton University’s Community Day Clean Up on April 23. SJI employees will help to clean up Atlantic City’s Chelsea neighborhood and nearby communities.

“Clean energy is an integral part of SJI’s culture and future vision,” said Kyle Nolan, VP, Strategy, SJI, and executive sponsor of the SJI Green Team. “We’re proud to have an employee resource group like the SJI Green Team, ensuring that our employees have the necessary tools to serve as stewards of the environment within our workforce and in their own communities.”

SJI’s subsidiary, South Jersey Gas, will also be in attendance at the Cape May Zoo’s Earth Day Celebration on April 23 and ACUA’s Annual Earth Day Festival on April 24 to help educate attendees on the importance of energy efficiency. Both South Jersey Gas and Elizabethtown Gas offer a range of energy efficiency programs, including zero-percent APR financing with the convenience of on-bill repayment, rebates for energy efficiency equipment upgrades, enhanced features and free weatherization measures for low to moderate-income customers, as well as tailored solutions for commercial and industrial customers. The two utilities also offer an efficient product marketplace featuring discounted smart thermostats and Conserve, an online resource that provides customers with tips on saving money and energy. Additionally, South Jersey Gas and Elizabethtown Gas both partner with EmPowered Schools, a hands-on learning program developed by the Alliance to Save Energy, to teach local students about energy efficiency and encourage them to take a leadership role in making their schools and homes more energy efficient.

Furthermore, Elizabethtown Gas recently provided $5,000 in support of The Nature Conservancy’s New Jersey Cities Program in Elizabeth, NJ. The program, also referred to as the “Greening Cities – Tiny Forest Project” includes a series of environmental projects in the utility’s service territory that increase the community’s access to nature. Elizabethtown Gas will partner with The Nature Conservancy (TNC) again in May to help protect and preserve trees planted along Paulins Kill in Blairstown, NJ, as part of the organization’s TNC For Trees initiative. Since the program’s inception, nearly 58,000 trees have been planted in the Paulins Kill region of New Jersey.
