SJI Celebrates Veterans Day by Hosting Celebratory Event and Donating $67,000 to the New Jersey Veterans Network

FOLSOM, NJ, November 8, 2023 – Yesterday, South Jersey Industries (SJI) celebrated Veterans Day by hosting a special event with its Veterans Engagement Team (VETS) employee resource group and the New Jersey Veterans Network.
At the event at SJI’s headquarters in Folsom, NJ, employees heard from VETS leaders, employees wrote holiday cards and collected new, unopened toys for donation to the New Jersey Veteran Network families this holiday season. SJI also presented Frank “Doc” Schupp, New Jersey Veterans Network’s Director of Veterans Outreach with a donation check from the company’s annual employee giving campaign, totaling $67,602 for 2023. SJI also announced the commitment of donating $77,765 to the New Jersey Veterans Network through its employee giving campaign in 2024.
Mr. Schupp spoke at the event with his service dog, Shadow, and he shared how employee donations from SJI’s annual giving campaign impacted the organization: “We are immensely grateful to SJI for their generous support. This donation not only strengthens our mission to serve our veterans but also exemplifies the true spirit of community and compassion. Together, we’re making a lasting impact on the lives of those who’ve sacrificed for our nation.”
VETS is an employee resource group at SJI that supports the personal growth and professional development of former servicemen and women who have transitioned to the workforce in the South Jersey Gas and Elizabethtown Gas service territories. SJI has increased veteran hiring by 300 percent, and approximately 58 or 4.8% of SJI employees are veterans, having served in all military branches.
