Good Guy award presentation“The NJBIA Good Guy Award recognizes a gentleman who acts with intent to foster inclusivity and ensures that his team represents the whole of the workforce and the constituents that they serve,” said Michele Siekerka, President and CEO, NJBIA. “A Good Guy also knows the importance of community leaders and role models, just as he is. Mike’s commitment to community is evident in all he does.”

Renna has led SJI for more than a decade, expanding its utility footprint in New Jersey and establishing the company as one of the nation’s leading energy infrastructure companies. During his time as CEO, SJI has developed one of the country’s largest renewable natural gas (RNG) platforms, including its flagship project, the Linden Renewable Energy (LRE) Project, which, once operational, will be the largest RNG project in North America, all while continuing to strengthen the company’s longstanding commitment to delivering safe, reliable, affordable energy to more than 730,000 natural gas customers through SJI’s two regulated subsidiaries, South Jersey Gas and Elizabethtown Gas.

A firm believer that talent drives success and culture sustains it, Renna is a steadfast champion of SJI’s core values of safety, service, community and inclusion. Under his leadership, SJI implemented a comprehensive strategy for diversity and inclusion and redoubled its support for the communities it serves. Collectively, SJI’s employees donated more than $176,000 in critical support to local, regional and statewide community-based organizations in 2024.

“I am truly honored to be recognized with the Good Guy award and thank the NJBIA for this honor,” said Mike Renna, President and CEO, SJI. “It is important that we continue to remind ourselves of the indelible impact that our contributions can have on others and in the communities we serve.”
