SJI Celebrates National Volunteer Month; Honored with Community Service Award from CIANJ

FOLSOM, NJ, April 29, 2026 – SJI is proud to celebrate National Volunteer Month by recognizing the outstanding contributions of its employees and is also thrilled to announce that the company has been honored with the Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey (CIANJ) 2026 Companies that Care Award for Volunteering & Community Service.

Each year, National Volunteer Month shines a spotlight on individuals and organizations that dedicate their time and resources to strengthening their communities through volunteerism.

SJI was among several organizations recognized at the CIANJ Companies That Care Award Ceremony, held on April 16 at Glen Ridge Country Club. The annual ceremony recognizes organizations that have demonstrated outstanding commitment through volunteerism and charitable giving, supporting New Jersey communities in meaningful ways — from addressing food insecurity and advancing health programs to providing scholarships and promoting animal welfare. SJI was proud to be honored with the Volunteering and Community Service award in recognition of its commitment to volunteerism, charitable giving and community impact.

“Commerce and CIANJ congratulate SJI on this well-deserved honor. Being named a 2026 Companies That Care honoree speaks volumes about the organization’s commitment to the communities it serves across New Jersey,” said Jamie Grill-Goodman, Editor of Commerce magazine. “Through its Employee Giving Campaign and an extraordinary 3,335 volunteer hours contributed by its team, SJI has demonstrated that engaged employees drive meaningful impact.”

“Service is at the heart of who we are as a company and an integral part of our culture. Our employees consistently step up to support a range of meaningful causes that make a positive impact on our communities, and this award is a testament to their generosity, compassion and leadership,” said Dr. Brittany Lee Lewis, DEI+B Program Manager, SJI. “We are deeply honored to be recognized by CIANJ and look forward to continuing our impact in the communities we serve.”

SJI is proud to be a community partner and encourages its employees to come together to give back and support causes that make a positive difference in local communities.

In 2025, SJI’s Employee Resource Groups, which are open to all employees of SJI, and employee volunteers completed 3,335 volunteer hours in support of causes such as environmental cleanups, food security, charity walks, the Annual MLK Day of Service, and more, reflecting the company’s longstanding commitment to supporting the communities it serves. This month, SJI hosted a celebration to honor its Employee Resource Groups and reflect on the successes and achievements from the past year. The event included presentations from each ERG, a luncheon and networking.

SJI and its subsidiaries, South Jersey Gas and Elizabethtown Gas, contribute $1 million in charitable giving and community support annually. As part of this support, SJI hosts an annual Employee Giving Campaign, which provides the company’s employees with the opportunity to pledge a monetary contribution to a selection of nonprofit organizations. The company further provides a dollar-for-dollar match for all employee donations/pledges.

Pledges from the 2025 Employee Giving Campaign will support 5 local organizations in 2026: Community FoodBank of New Jersey (CFBNJ), New Jersey Veterans Network, The Nature Conservancy, The South Jersey Chapter of the American Association of Blacks in Energy (AABE) and the New Jersey Association of Counties (NJAC).

As part of SJI and its subsidiaries South Jersey Gas and Elizabethtown Gas’s charitable giving, the company supports local nonprofits and organizations, such as local medical and first responder agencies, youth sports and recreation programs, university foundations and economic development organizations.
