At SJI, we’re proud to provide opportunities to help support the next generation of energy professionals. This summer, we were excited to welcome our cohort of 2026 IGNITE interns.
Our college internship program officially began in June, marking the start of an exciting summer of learning, collaboration, and professional growth. The 11-week, fully immersive program provides students with the opportunity to gain real-world experience, participate in networking events, build relationships, and learn from industry professionals in a variety of departments.
In addition to our internship program, we are excited to continue offering cooperative (co-op) learning opportunities that provide students with real-world experience, in line with their skillsets, interests, and educational goals. We are pleased to welcome three co-op students from Drexel University. Through this extended learning experience, students gain deeper exposure to our operations while contributing to meaningful work that supports our mission.

Year after year, our interns come from a wide range of academic backgrounds and disciplines, reflecting the diverse skill sets needed to drive innovation and support the future of the industry. From engineering and business to data science and law, the students we welcome are excited to learn and grow within this dynamic industry.
Throughout the program, our interns contributed to meaningful projects across the business, gaining hands-on experience with real-world challenges in our industry while helping to support our mission of delivering safe, reliable, affordable natural gas service to our communities. These projects encouraged teamwork, problem-solving, and innovation, while giving participants the opportunity to apply what they are learning in a meaningful way.
In August, interns delivered their final presentations to mentors and senior leadership to close out this year’s 11-week internship program, showcasing the impressive work, insight, and dedication they have brought to SJI this summer.
