SJI Hosts 4th Annual DEI+B Summit on Inclusive Leadership and Embracing Change

9/29/2026

SJI recently hosted its 4th annual Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEI+B) Summit, with topics on developing a growth mindset, how to drive change through leadership, and creating a culture of care in the workplace. The event featured networking sessions, a panel discussion with senior leadership, a keynote address by Kelly Jones, Founder and CEO, The Jones Group, interactive workshops led by Mija Lieberman, Associate Director, Seramount, and tabling with Employee Resource Groups and Supplier Engagement.

The full-day event allowed employees of SJI to learn more about their leaders and perspectives from their career journeys, ways to lead with confidence, how employees can foster a more open, caring, and inclusive working environment, and insights to support the company’s mission of encouraging a diverse, equitable, and respectful environment where all employees thrive.

“Inclusive leadership plays an important role in creating a workplace where employees feel valued, supported, and empowered to contribute,” said Dr. Brittany Lewis, DEI+B Program Manager, SJI. “Our annual DEI+B Summit reflects SJI’s continued commitment to fostering a culture of belonging while equipping employees with the perspectives and tools to embrace change, approach challenges with a growth mindset, and lead with intention.”

Inclusion is a core value of SJI as OneSJI, united under a collective vision, goals, and values. The DEI+B strategy is centered on three key areas of focus: Talent, Supplier Engagement, and Community Partnerships. SJI continues to drive its DEI+B efforts through program planning, business strategy, and unique culture-building tactics that provide a strong foundation for meaningful and sustainable DEI+B solutions. Through its DEI+B strategy, SJI offers voluntary learning and development programs each year, providing employees with opportunities to strengthen leadership skills, enhance workplace culture, and support their professional growth.

“I’m honored to be speaking with SJI on leading inclusively through change,” said Kelly Jones, Founder and CEO, The Jones Group. “Leaders and employees are being asked to stay resilient and focused at the same time. This Summit creates the opportunity to engage honestly and share practical insights that help people move forward.”

Beyond this event and the DEI+B team’s efforts, SJI’s Employee Resource Groups focus on inclusion and belonging efforts throughout the organization. SJI has seven Employee Resource Groups, including the American Association of Blacks in Energy – South Jersey Chapter (AABE); Women’s Leadership Initiative (WLI); Veterans Engagement Team (VETS); Green Team (GT); Power of Pride (PoP); Emerging Leaders (EML); and Hispanic Organization for Latino Achievement (HOLA).  These groups are dedicated to helping drive employee engagement, fostering an inclusive and collaborative workplace, developing future leaders, and broadening partnerships in the communities we serve. Employee Resource Groups are available for all employees to join.
